History

Discovered by Bartolomeu Bueno da Silva in the 18 th century, the greatest source of natural hot water in the world is located in the county of Rio Quente, 27 Km from the city of Caldas Novas in the southern of the state of Goiás, near Serra de Caldas, and it’s the real treasure found by bandeirantes in the interior of Brazil.

Two Hundred years later, in 1922, the physician Ciro Palmerston from the state of Minas Gerais, bought the farm that lodges the resort nowadays. In 1964, Estância Thermas do Rio Quente was created, and in 1979 the groups Algar from Uberlândia–MG and Gebepar from Goiânia-GO took charge of the Company’s stock holding.
